A SECONDARY school has maintained its ‘Good’ reputation following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The Hurst Community College, Brimpton Road, Baughurst was visited by the education watchdog for the first time since May 2015.

During the visit inspectors found that the school had continued to maintain its high standards and rated the school as ‘Good’ overall.

Inspector Lucy English, found that pupils at the school had a very strong personal development learning programme in place and where previously GCSE results were ‘poor’ the inspectors report said, “Early indications are positive, and we observed pupils using the target language carefully and with increasing confidence.”

In the report it read: “The leadership team has maintained the good quality of education in the school since the previous inspection.

“Leaders have worked well together to create an inclusive and celebratory culture evident throughout the school.

“The values of ‘ambition, commitment, excellence and respect’ are promoted well throughout the school and shared by all.”

Inspectors also praised the school for the work that had be done to create an inclusive and celebratory culture throughout the school.

The report added: “Pupils are well-behaved, confident and articulate. They are proud of the active role they are encouraged to play in shaping the school community.

"A typical parent comment is that the teachers are ‘caring, committed and passionate and they inspire and support the pupils well.”

Headteacher at the Hurst Community College, Roger Jones, said: “This Ofsted judgement is testament to the enormous commitment given by pupils, parents staff and governors.”
