A TRIO of hairdressers from a Basingstoke salon proved themselves to be a cut above the rest when they reached the semi-finals of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards.

Owner of the Hair Lab in Festival Place, Chigz Hirani, along with manager Danielle Howell and senior stylist Hannah Cranstone, each created a unique haircut and colour which was then photographed and submitted to the panel of judges for the contest.

The three stylists were briefed to deliver a well-executed, inspirational, modern colour look, complemented by a beautiful style, finish and total look taking inspiration from upcoming trends.

Chigz created a 1940s-inspired men’s hairstyle featuring a sharp undercut with length, volume and texture on top, Danielle opted for a soft copper-toned balayage hair colour with a blunt one length hair cut, while Hannah permed her model’s hair to create an on-trend men’s haircut.

This is not the first time that salon owner Chigz and manager Danielle, who has worked at the Festival Place hairdressers for three years, have taken part in the competition, with the pair previously reaching the finals in 2017.

Chigz said: “This has been a great experience and I’m really proud of everyone who entered.

“We love getting creative and it’s important we continually push ourselves to develop and improve.”

The Hair Lab also had a fourth entrant in the competition, in apprentice Katie Paterson.

“Katie hasn’t qualified as a stylist yet, so it was really impressive when she decided to enter,” added Chigz.

“She has shown real passion and ability with her beautiful haircut and colour and I am sure she has a bright future ahead of her.”

Chigz, Danielle and Hannah will now go on to the semi-finals of the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Awards which will be held in London on April 9.
