ON TUESDAY last week, career ambassadors from businesses and charities visited Everest to give Year 9 and 10 pupils an insight into the pathways they can take.

This opportunity gave us the chance to meet people in all different walks of life; such as an entrepreneur who’s built a global restaurant chain and someone from AWE who has built nuclear warheads.

The first thing they asked us was ‘if we knew what we wanted to be when we were older?’ Being at the age we are now, the answers varied and not many knew what they wanted to do.

We took part in multiple activities including the ambassadors giving us a detailed description of how the interviewing process works, the stages that you have to go through, etc.

They also told us the main qualities and skills employers look for and gave us advice about how the small things we do now have a big impact later.

Later in the day we got to speak to nearly all the ambassadors and they answered any queries we had about higher education and university, how they got to where they are now, what we need to do to get to their position and more.

It was a very educational experience that will help to guide us in the future and we thank the school and the ambassadors for this opportunity.
