A SLIP road from Basingstoke Leisure Park to Churchill Way West will be closed on Wednesday as the first stage of flood alleviation work nears its end.

The secondary exit slip road from the Leisure Park on to Churchill Way West, which runs by KFC, is to be closed from around 7am to 4.30pm to enable works to the surface of the road crossing.

Diversions have been put in place to allow the movement of traffic around the Leisure Park.

The closure is to to allow for works in a long-awaited flood alleviation scheme to be installed in Buckskin.

An update on the project from Hampshire County Council read: Further investigatory work is currently being undertaken on the Buckskin estate. Data from this and any other investigatory works identified will be used to improve the design of Phase 2 of the scheme.

"Phase 1 of the Buckskin Flood Alleviation Scheme is nearing its completion. Some activities such as top soiling and seeding are subject to weather conditions and will be undertaken as soon as it is practical to do so. It is currently anticipated that Phase 1 works will be completed in April 2019."
