MORE activities and services for children, families and older people in Rooksdown are being made available thanks to funding from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.
Rooksdown Community Association has been granted £166,561 to purchase two empty retail units, with work now underway to transform them into a suitable community space.
The units were originally purchased by the community association, with the help of Rooksdown Parish Council, and the funds will repay both organisations.
Once set up, the new area will allow the association to provide further activities with the support of healthcare and education partners.
Cabinet member responsible for regeneration at the borough, Councillor Terri Reid, said: “Improving residents’ quality of life is a key priority for the council and we want local communities to thrive. The new sessions will assist residents to keep fit and healthy.”
