RESIDENTS of a care home in Newnham have taken to the ice.

Rowan Lodge staff joined residents in strapping on their ice skates and taking to the Planet Ice rink in Basingstoke with the residents in ice-friendly wheelchairs.

One of the residents said: “Not bad for a 79-year-old.

“I’ve never been ice skating but have always wanted to.

“It was magical to be able to give it a go and enjoy the ride.”

The multi-sensory activity brought a smile to the face of staff and resident alike.

One of the care assistants said: “I’m not sure who had more fun, me seeing the residents smile or the residents enjoying the ice-skating.”
