A PEER from the House of Lords addressed a group in Basingstoke about Brexit.

Lord Andrew Adonis held a talk with the campaign group North Hampshire for Europe on Tuesday.

The Remain campaigner was speaking while the vote and debate was taking place in the House of Commons on the Prime Minister’s EU Withdrawal Agreement.

He gave a talk on the benefits of remaining inside the European Union, and where to go from next after the prime minister’s agreement was defeated in the House of Commons.

He also took questions from the audience, including speaking on the future of Gibraltar, and other questions on Brexit.

Lord Adonis said at the event: “There are four key reasons to stay in the EU: protecting our trade, jobs and prosperity; solving the Irish border issue; keeping our young people’s right to live, love, work and travel across 28 countries; and preserving the longest period of peace Europe has ever enjoyed.”
