A BUSINESS in Basingstoke had a visit from its Japanese owners to open its new home.

Gordian Strapping, based in Brunel Road, welcomed key figures from parent company StraPack to open its newly-refurbished building.

Mr Shimojima Sr and Mr Shimojima Jr travelled from Japan to Basingstoke on Friday, 22 February to open the building.

The company had previously rented the building before buying it two years ago, and completing a renovation, funded by StraPack.

The event celebrated the new building, the company exceeding £10m in turnover last year for the first time, and a belated 80th year celebration of two years ago.

The event saw five former employees, two former managing directors, a former sales director, and two former technical managers, a father and a son who both worked for Gordian and both occupied the same position of technical manager gather for the opening.

Gordian supplies strapping, wrapping, and hooding equipment to the UK and Irish markets.

The company has 18 service engineers on the road, which is the largest team in the industry.

The new building houses a total of 43 employees, many of which have more than 10 years’ service with the company.

On the day, the company also celebrated four 40 and five 25-year work anniversaries.
