A THIEF has been jailed for nine weeks after going on a spree around in a Tadley supermarket.

Michael William Paice, 40, of Bishopswood Road, Tadley pleaded guilty to eight counts of theft when he appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court on February 27, 2019.

The 40-year-old targeted the Sainsbury’s store in Mulfords Hill between February 1, 2018 and October 19, 2018.

In that time Paice stole items including 16 bottles of Jack Daniels whiskey, vodka and meat.

The total estimated value of what Paice stole is believed to be more than £740.

Paice also pleaded guilty to failing to surrender to custody on December 10, 2018 having been released on bail.

He also pleaded guilty to stealing a roll of tin foil to the value of £1 from the B&M stores in Worting Road on February 26, 2019.

Paice was sentenced to four weeks in jail for the spate of thefts in Tadley, sentenced a further four weeks for stealing the tin foil, to run consecutively and jailed a further week for failing to surrender which will also run consecutively.
