IN PREPARATION for the upcoming ski trip to Saalbach Hinterglemm, Austria, Brighton Hill Community School (BHCS) pupils have been attending after school ‘ski-fit’ sessions to assist them in building the muscles and strength required when skiing in the mountains.
The first two weeks have been an incredible success, with over half of the students signed up for the trip being in attendance, including a few teachers involved in the trip.
After a gruelling and tiring first week - with a lot of the students being a bit stiff and sore the next day - the second week saw a lot of progress, and many participants, especially the older ones, could feel their bodies already adapting to the exercises and the effort needed for skiing.
The ski trip is currently one of the most exciting topics discussed among the students and teachers.
BHCS has also organised dry skiing sessions that students can attend as part of a pre-organised weekend, so to learn how to ski properly before the highly anticipated trip - which commences on April 5 and ends on April 13.
Parents and guardians (and pupils) also attended an information evening on Wednesday, 13 February, based on the activities that will commence throughout the duration of the trip, as well as any other pre-requirements needed to ensure the students have the best possible time in Austria.
This provided reassurance to everyone involved in the trip, as well as increased the already prevalent anticipation among the student body.
