A WOMAN was robbed in broad daylight by a puffa jacket-wearing man who asked for a cigarette.

Police are appealing for information after the 34-year-old woman had cash and a bank card stolen near Basingstoke Cricket Club on Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred between 10am and 10.10am on Castle Field Path, at the back of the cricket club.

The woman, from Basingstoke, was walking along the path when she was approached by a man who asked her for a cigarette.

He then grabbed her and demanded money.

The man is described as being white and slim, aged between 20 and 30 years old, with short dark brown or black hair and wearing a wearing puffa jacket. He was also carrying a dark coloured rucksack.
