A CARE home is opening its doors to villagers in a bid to help tackle loneliness.

Cherry Blossom Manor Care Home, in Bramley Green, has launched a new initiative to help older people who live in the area who may feel isolated or live alone.

The Don’t Dine Alone initiative was launched by care provider Barchester Healthcare, which runs Cherry Blossom, as a way to reach out to isolated or vulnerable members of the community.

Cherry Blossom is inviting older villagers who eat alone to join residents and teams at the home throughout the year for a three-course complimentary meal.

The home’s head chef will make a range of dishes to cover varied individual dietary needs of guests.

General manager at Cherry Blossom, Gigi Despojo, said: “Loneliness can be a big problem for elderly people, especially as the weather gets colder. Our doors are always open.”
