A SCHOOL could be experimenting with a new science block, according to plans submitted to Hart District Council.

Lord Wandsworth College, in Long Sutton, has applied for consent for a new building with science facilities and a car park after the demolition of existing properties known as Westbury and Pembury.

This comes following the permission granted for ‘enhancements’ to the site in 2017.

Part of the planning application, by West Waddy ADP, read: “In September 2017, hybrid planning permission was granted by Hart District Council for enhancements to Lord Wandsworth College.

“This included a masterplan to enhance the campus environment and secure the long-term future of Lord Wandsworth College.

“Within the Hybrid Planning Consent, outline permission was given for the provision of a science facility, of up to 2,500sqm.

“Upon approval of planning principal West Waddy ADP began the process to develop the detailed design of the science building.”

The building would include ‘state-of-the-art’ facilities, according to the application, and it would more than double the amount of cars able to park there from 14 to a proposed 32.

The building itself would have a ground floor and a first floor, which would include four biology classrooms and four physics laboratories, with two preparation rooms on the ground floor.

On the first floor, there would also be four chemistry classrooms, a preparation room, and a junior science laboratory.

The design of the building would be in 'keeping with the rest of the school'.

Consultation on the application is now open.
