A PROVIDER of accommodation for people with disabilities in Basingstoke has been given a clean bill of health from the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Stoke Lodge, based in Cliddesden Road, provides accommodation and personal care for up to nine people who live with a learning disability, autism or other health needs.

The unannounced inspection by the CQC took place on December 18, 2018, and the report which said the service was ‘good’ overall was published on February 2.

It was given a ‘good’ rating in four out of five of the areas which the healthcare watchdog inspects, with an ‘outstanding’ rating in the responsiveness category.

Part of the report read: “Staff consistently went the extra mile and provided innovative solutions to support people to achieve their aspirations.

“Staff were particularly skilled at helping people and their families to explore and record their wishes about care at the end of their life, which made them feel empowered, valued and listened to.”

The report continued: “People experienced care that was responsive to their individual needs and preferences.

“The registered manager and staff ensured people had as much choice and control over their lives as possible.

“Families told us the staff worked closely with them, to ensure they were fully involved in their loved one’s care.”

Manager of Stoke Lodge, Vanya Cox, said: “We are delighted that Stoke Lodge has been rated as ‘good’ overall in their recent CQC inspection and especially pleased with our ‘outstanding’ rating for responsive.

“We are so fortunate to have a very hard working and dedicated staff team who provide the highest standards of care for the people we support and take a great pride in helping them achieve their goals and in promoting their independence.”
