ROCK ‘n’ roll royalty will be coming to the Anvil for a rare performance.

Lead singer of the iconic rock band Led Zepplin Robert Plant will be stepping on to the Anvil stage with his new band Saving Grace, supporting Fairport Convention.

Rumours had been circulating that Plant’s new band would be joining the legendary folk-rock band on their upcoming tour later this month.

And for the people of Basingstoke, to make their Valentine’s Day that little bit more special, the man behind songs such as Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love and Black Dog, will be gracing the town.

The rumours were confirmed by Fairport Convention’s bassist Dave Pegg, who posted on the band’s website: “Robert Plant will be singing on three of our tour dates with a fab newly-formed band called Saving Grace.

“Robert is a long-time friend of Fairport and it will be great to have him with us on some of our tour dates.”

Renowned as the founding fathers of British folk-rock music, Fairport Convention have maintained consistently high standards for over five decades and remains as entertaining as ever.
