HOSPITAL patients are being asked to postpone their visits or not to drive due to the ongoing after-effects of Friday's snow.

Hampshire Hospitals, which runs Basingstoke hospital, has today warned that there remains very limited access to the car parks at Basingstoke hospital due to the sheer amount of snow.

The trust is urging patients to use alternative travel to get to the Aldermaston Road site or postpone their visit.

Julie Dawes, chief nurse at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “Thank you to all our staff, volunteers and partners who have worked tirelessly to keep our services running and our patients safe during the extreme weather.

"Our estates teams have been working hard over the weekend to clear the snow from the site, but access to our car parks at Basingstoke hospital remains very limited due to the quantity of snow.

“We are asking anyone coming to Basingstoke hospital to make alternative travel and transport arrangements to avoid parking on site, if at all possible and for visitors to postpone their visit if possible, until more of the snow has cleared.

"We are hugely grateful to the community for their understanding and support, and apologise for any inconvenience this causes.

“We are continuing to work hard to keep our patients, staff and visitors safe while on site and will provide further updates.”
