YEAR 10 and 11 students have been discussing possible future career paths.
An advisor, Mrs Wood, who works at the Basingstoke Consortium, makes appointments to see around ten students on each of her visits to Everest Community Academy, which take place every Wednesday.
As well as Everest, Mrs Wood also visits other local secondary schools, as all Key Stage 4 students are entitled to support, advice and counselling on future career paths.
Mrs Wood starts the careers advice appointments by discussing student’s likes, dislikes, hobbies and aspirations. She works out a few possible career options that would fit the student’s specifications, then works backwards to work out the best path needed to achieve the chosen career.
For students undecided, she will make suggestions and discuss options. She advises on possible college choice, apprenticeships, helps with applications and possible university choice, each student also gets an electronic action plan after their interview.
