A HIT-and-run investigation has been launched after a cyclist was left with serious injuries this morning.
The cyclist, a woman aged in her 50s, was travelling along Jays Close, in the Viables, at around 5.30am this morning when she was struck by a vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop to help the woman.
The vehicle involved was described as being black or dark in colour, and the size of a van, a SUV or a 4x4.
Police say the vehicle would also likely have sustained damage as a result of the collision.
Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision, or saw a vehicle in the area around this time, to get in touch with them.
In addition, police also pleaded for the driver of the vehicle, or anyone who may know them, to contact them immediately.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police by calling 101, quoting the reference 44190016246, or call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
