A CHARITABLE organisation has been given a financial boost to start the New Year thanks to a number of donations.
Citizens Advice Basingstoke (CAB) has received donations from the Asda Foundation, Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s local infrastructure fund and two Hampshire county councillor discretionary grants.
The money, totalling more than £19,000, will go towards refurbishing the CAB office based in Festival Place.
Graham Hatcher, chief executive officer at CAB, said: “As a charity we are dependent on grants and donations and are very grateful to our recent donors for their generous support.
“Although the majority of our staff are volunteers, we still need continuous funding to carry out the vital and confidential work we supply at no cost to our clients in this town.
“This money will help make our building more comfortable for our clients to visit and for our staff to work in. Before, the building was either freezing cold or stifling hot with no means to alter the conditions.”
