BASINGSTOKE’S MP has been shocked by levels of discrimination against guide dog owners.
The charity Guide Dogs ran an event in Parliament to raise awareness of discrimination against guide dog owners, with the help of Maria Miller.
The Guide Dogs access all areas campaign is set to highlight how many guide dog owners are being refused services from businesses.
James White, senior campaign manager at Guide Dogs said: “It’s against the law for a business to close their doors to someone because of their assistance dog, but it’s still a daily concern for many guide dog owners going about their lives.”
The charity said three quarters of disabled people are refused shop entry due to having an assisted guide dog.
Basingstoke’s MP said: “This isn’t just poor customer service, it’s discrimination and unacceptable.”
