FIREFIGHTERS helped free a horse which had become trapped in North Oakley.

Yesterday (January 6) at 5.14pm, firefighters arrived at the farm in Oakley Road, where a horse had become stuck between a horse walker and a brick wall.

Crews from Basingstoke Fire Station and Overton Fire Station arrived to assist, as well as an Animal Rescue Unit from Winchester.

The horse, a 29-year-old mare named Polo which measures 17 hands, was sedated by a vet that was called out, and extricated to the vets in a stable condition.

Fire crews left the scene at 7.42pm.
