BASINGSTOKE’S MP has praised the work of students for their fundraising initiatives.

Basingstoke College of Technology held a charity awareness day with support from Maria Miller who joined the staff and students at the facility, in Worting Road, for a day full of Christmas festivities.

The stalls were run by students with additional needs, selling Christmas items, homemade cakes and a variety of competitions.

The MP said: “It was wonderful to meet with the students and see a variety of fundraising ideas in action.”

The money raised by the student’s from their stalls is set to be given to their own chosen charities with the help of the college.

Mrs Miller added: “I am very impressed with both the life and employability kills that Basingstoke College of Technology are helping their students with additional needs develop.”
