A HOUSEBUILDER in Hook has donated hundreds of pounds to funding outdoor space improvements to a primary school.

CALA Homes have given Whitewater CofE Primary School in The Street, Rotherwick, £500 to improve the school's outdoor spaces and provide for the school's quiet activities.

The donation was made as part of the housebuilder's 2018 community bursary scheme.

The money has been utilised by Whitewater’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) to resurface the outside space to make it accessible for all pupils, plant a new tree, install a bench seat and purchase bean bags for the school’s quiet activities.

Chair of the Whitewater PTA, Amy Evans, said: “Our PTA regularly organises local fundraising activities for the local community and school members, to raise funds towards improvements to the school which will have a positive impact on pupil’s education.

"Whitewater PTA is committed to making improvements to the school to ensure it is accessible for all pupils but projects like this wouldn’t be possible without the support of the parents, teachers, local community and businesses like CALA Homes.

"We’d like to say a huge thank you to CALA, whose generosity has enabled us to install a quiet zone in the school playground and purchase seating for the pupils to enjoy throughout the academic year.”

Managing director of CALA Homes (South Home Counties), Richard Walbourn, said: "The work that Whitewater PTA does to raise funds for the school really stood out to us and, as a developer which supports the communities in which we build, we were really keen to support as part of our 2018 community bursary.

"We were so pleased to be able to provide funds to improve the schools outdoor areas and hope that pupils get to enjoy the new equipment and facilities for many more years to come.”
