After a moving assembly presented to our Year 8 students last year about the aims and achievements of the Ugandan orphanage King's Kid Home, Brighton Hill Community School's headteacher, Mr Chris Edwards, inspired us students to create various fundraisers that will allow us to provide a trip of a lifetime to the children of the orphanage's choir.
Our ambition is to fly these inspirational kids over to the UK, where spend a week experiencing what it's like to live in the lives of us students and perform with our school's choir.
Our most recent event was a non-school uniform day, which was held on November 16 by a group of Year 10 students.
A teacher Strictly Come Dancing event was also hosted the day before the non-school uniform day; the proceeds going towards this cause as well as Children in Need.
Collectively, these events managed to raise around a whopping £1,500, and with many creative fundraisers being prepared and finalised for the future, there is no doubt in students' minds that we will reach this goal, as the passion and drive to provide this trip for these amazing children is absolutely phenomenal.
