TO TRULY commemorate the fallen soldiers of the First World War, Brighton Hill Community School wanted to make a statement with how much they care about the 100th anniversary of the end of the war.

The head of humanities, and history teacher, Miss Adkins, made assemblies for each year to pin poppies onto a board and each poppy represents a solider who fought in the war who were from the local area.

Most faculties wanted to make the Friday before Remembrance Sunday important so that as a school we could show respect and support those who lost loved ones from the army.

For example, the PE teachers and Year 7 tutors dressed in army uniforms and performed drills during their lessons. The art department made clay poppies which will be painted and attached to a wreath.

As it was the 100 years anniversary, we know that remembering is not important on only one day, because of all they have given to the country.

We will always remember them.
