AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a spate of steering wheels from cars in one night.

Officers are appealing for witnesses after six BMW cars in Kempshott had their steering wheels stolen overnight between 6.30pm on November 19 and 8.30am on November 20.

As previously reported in The Gazette, the steering wheels from the cars were stolen, but the cars were otherwise undamaged.

The thefts happened in Skylark Close, Moorhams Avenue, two in Redwing Road and two in Firecrest Road.

Sergeant Trevor Taylor said: “We are urging residents in the area to remain vigilant as this is quite an unusual spate of thefts.

“If you notice anyone acting suspiciously around vehicles in your neighbourhood or hear anything out of the ordinary, please let us know.

“We will be carrying out extra patrols in the area, but information you have could really help us catch those responsible.”

He added: “We have carried out enquiries in the area, but if you have private CCTV in the area, please can you check your footage and call us if you have anything that you think will help us.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police on 101 quoting 44180396891.
