STUDENTS from Basingstoke College of Technology (BCoT) have picked up their gardening gloves and given back to their local community by planting a number of bulbs at the new Community Garden at Brookvale Village Hall in Basingstoke.

As part of their Supported Internship course, students from BCoT's specialist provision department volunteered with local charity Brookvale Community Association after a representative contacted the college asking if students would like to support the project.

The students planted the bulbs as part of their enrichment hours, which is a key part of their course designed to give students memorable and important experiences outside of the classroom.

Cathy Williams, a trustee of Brookvale Community Association, said: "BCoT students are very active in supporting the local community. Students from BCoT have planted bulbs before and we are happy to welcome the 2018 team".

Anthony Bravo, principal of BCoT, said: "We are always proud when our students choose to support the local community and Brookvale Community Association is a fantastic organisation. Our supported internship students can undertake up to 100 hours of work experience as part of their course and it is experiences such as these that improve their CVs and help them prepare for employment or further study."
