‘LEAF it to us’ is the message from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council (BDBC) as crews get out and about to begin the seasonal programme.

Leaves are swept up by BDBC throughout the year, but in autumn and winter, the street cleansing team at the council focus on collecting the leaf fall across the borough as a leaf clearance schedule comes into force.

Cabinet member for regulatory services and the environment, Cllr Hayley Eachus, said: “Autumn leaves are beautiful but fallen leaves can cause a variety of issues so our street cleansing team is already working very hard to tackle the leaf fall across the borough.

“We ask residents to check the schedule and bear with us as we tackle the leaves that have fallen and are continuing to fall. If residents have a specific concern about a particular area, they should call the council or report it via the council website.”

The teams are targeting different areas each day and this schedule is now available on the council’s website for residents to check.

The programme will potentially extend to the end of January 2019, depending on mild weather conditions.

The full leaf clearance schedule can be found on the council’s website here: basingstoke.gov.uk/leafclearance

Any issues with leaf fall can also be reported by calling the contact centre on 01256 844844 or logging on to the council’s website.
