RESIDENTS are being given the opportunity to have their say on a new housing development.

A consultation on planning guidance for the Upper Cufaude Farm site, in Bramley, is underway, giving people the chance to put forward their views on what is needed including the type and size of homes, community facilities, transport, access, design and layout.

The draft Upper Cufaude Farm Development Brief Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) has been prepared by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to support the delivery of the Basingstoke and Deane Local Plan 2011 to 2029.

The document will guide the future development of the greenfield site.

Hampshire County Council owns the land and an option agreement is in place with a housebuilder to develop the main part of the site.

The allocation covers approximately 26 hectares of land and is capable of accommodating approximately 390 homes and associated community infrastructure.

This SPD does not include new policies but identifies more detailed development principles, such as including a mix of homes and community facilities to deliver a mixed and sustainable community, adequate transport and access and ensure quality in environmental heritage and design terms.

Cabinet member for planning and infrastructure at the borough council CouncillorMark Ruffell said: “We are very interested in hearing the views of residents about this site and I would encourage residents to take a look at the document and give us their feedback.

“The consultation on this draft document will be open until 4pm on Monday, 17 December. It is available for inspection at Basingstoke Discovery Centre and Chineham Library during their normal opening hours. You can also find it on the council website and in the council offices.”
