A TEENAGER’S trick or treating generosity managed to collect enough food to feed more than 420 vulnerable people in Basingstoke and Deane.

As previously reported in The Gazette, Joshua Dempsey set out a stall on Halloween in Appleton Drive Park, Popley to collect items to be donated to the Basingstoke Foodbank.

This is the second year the 15-year-old has done the selfless gesture and this year he managed to collect more than 180kg of items, more than triple the amount the Bishop Challoner Catholic Secondary School student raised last year.

Residents travelled from across Basingstoke and Deane to donate to Joshua’s cause.

Among the items donated were nappies, shampoo, toiletries, tin foods and biscuits.

Joshua has already said he is looking to make this an annual event and is encouraging more people to get involved in supporting good causes for Halloween.
