A FUNDRAISING page has been set up after foul thieves stole collection boxes from an army veteran.
Hampshire Constabulary has received a report that two collection boxes were stolen on Saturday from a stall set up in Festival Place.
An 84-year-old man who was manning the stall outside the Marks and Spencer store was packing up when he noticed the two boxes containing cash were taken.
A gofundme page has been set up to replace the money lost in the theft.
A statement on the page reads: "For many years in Basingstoke this gentleman has collected for RBL. He is a veteran who is well known in the town.
"On Saturday, his collection tins were taken and thieves got away with it.
"We have set this up to try and recover some of the funds taken from him. "

The theft has been reported as having happened between 5.30pm and 6pm on Saturday, which was the day of the official launch of this year's Poppy Appeal campaign.
A police investigation is underway and officers are making enquiries.
Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101, quoting crime reference number 44180404375.
