A BASINGSTOKE teenager has been given the opportunity to show off their skills on the West End.

Queen Mary’s College (QMC) student Jenna Brewer has won a coveted place with West End Kids, the UK’s best-known musical theatre song and dance troupe, following a lengthy trial period.

Jenna will perform in front of tens of thousands of people this winter, appearing with the troupe alongside the casts of West End shows and some of the biggest names in entertainment.

In the next couple of months, she will appear in some major events, including the Regent Street Motor Show, Great Ormond Street Christmas Ball, Royal Festival Hall and The Royal Ascot Christmas Parade.

“I first saw the West End Kids perform at Camp Bestival in 2016, I absolutely loved it; they were so professional.” said the second year QMC student.

“The trial for the West End Kids troupe was intense, demanding and nerve-wracking, but a lot of fun and definitely worth it.

“I couldn’t believe it when they told me I had been accepted; I thought they had emailed the wrong person.”

West End Kids is a 20-strong elite musical theatre song and dance troupe. Based in central London, the company provides a programme of “on-the-job” training; combining intensive weekend rehearsals with a busy performance schedule.

She added: “I’m really looking forward to performing at the Great Ormond Street Christmas Party.

“I can’t wait to meet all of the children and do a special performance for them. I know it will be a really rewarding experience.”

Martin Williams, founder and artistic director of West End Kids said: “We are delighted to welcome Jenna to West End Kids.

“She is a talented young performer and we are confident she will be an asset to our troupe.

“To be part of our troupe you not only have to be a strong singer and dancer, but you have to be prepared to work hard. We are very demanding, but we know that talented kids love to be pushed hard and so that is what we do.”
