PUPILS from Hook Junior School are learning about International Walk to School Month throughout October with the support of housebuilder Barratt Homes.

Given its new development in Hook, Barratt is encouraging the idea of safely walking to school and has donated 30 hi-vis vests to the school to help pupils be seen as darker nights draw in.

Headteacher at Hook Junior School, Lynn Martin, said: “We are pleased to receive this donation of vests from Barratt Homes which will hopefully help our pupils be more easily visible should they choose to walk to school.”

The month is designed to encourage pupils to get healthier and be more green by walking.

Lynn added: “We do appreciate it’s not always easy but even trying to walk, cycle or scoot to school once or twice a week will definitely be a step in the right direction towards less congested roads and is a great way to encourage children’s fitness.”
