A SUPERMARKET has launched a new flaming hot curry to ‘meet demand’.
Morrisons Basingstoke said it made its eight chilli rated curry – the Flaming Fiery Phaal – after customers said the supermarket’s Volcanic Vindaloo was not hot enough.
The Flaming Fiery Phaal contains scorpion chillies which top the Scoville Heat Scale – which ranks how hot a chilli is – in addition to naga and green chillies.
Its eight chilli rating is said to make it the hottest supermarket curry ever.
Ian Daley, from Morrisons Basingstoke, said: “We love to hear back from customers and were happy to take on the challenge. The difficulty when making a phaal is to make sure it’s got as much flavour as it has heat. But we think we’ve pulled it off.”
The launch came during Morrisons’ ‘Curry Week’ which ran from October 8.
Morrisons Basingstoke has also launched Roulette Bhajis – a box of 12 onion bhajis with three of those being extra spicy for those who want to take a heat-filled gamble.
