A MARKETING chief is set to compete in one of the oldest beauty competitions in England.

Ellen Holbrook will take part in the final of the Miss English Rose Elegance 2018 Model Competition this coming weekend.

The 35-year-old, who is the deputy head of marketing at the Anvil Arts Trust, is no stranger to the industry as she enjoys vintage modelling and has done TV extra work in her spare time.

Miss English Rose Elegance 2018 is part of the historic Miss English Rose competition which is the second oldest competition in England as it has been running since 1951.

At the final, Ellen will be up against other contestants from across England, where she will be required to take part in a catwalk show in front of the judges and the winner will be announced on the day.

The overall winner in the Miss English Rose Elegance 2018 competition will have their share of more than £2,000 worth of prizes, including a chance of taking part in the national final of Miss British Isles Elegance 2019 and the opportunity of winning a modelling contract.

In preparation for the event, Ellen has gained sponsored from Chineham-based company Skin Matters, which specialises in skin and body treatments.

Owner Sarafina Loria will be providing Ellen’s hair and makeup styling on the day.

Pinnell Sorella, a Basingstoke dressmaking business run by two sisters, will also be helping out by providing Ellen with her full length evening dress for the event.

Hundreds of girls have entered the competition over the last few months and Ellen has been chosen to take part in the final at The Prince of Wales Hotel Ballroom in Southport.

Judges look through the huge amount of entries that the competition attracts every year. Then approximately 20 finalists are offered the chance to take part in the final.

The event is run with the modelling industry watching dog ALBA.
