A TEAM from a law firm really walked the walk when it came to their latest fundraising feat in support of a charity.

A total of 19 fundraisers from Clarke & Son Solicitors took on a River Thames London Bridges walking challenge to pull in more pounds for their charity of the year. Ark Cancer Centre Charity.

The team has raised £55,000 for Ark Cancer Centre Charity since 2015, and they are on a mission to add a further £15,000 to that total in 2018/19.

This year has already seen a successful charity golf day, one member of the team do a sponsored wing walk, and another seven take on an abseil challenge – all of which have been well-supported by sponsors.

The fabulous fundraisers are now close to hitting £10,000 for 2018/19 after Saturday’s sponsored 13-mile walk by staff, partners and friends over 14 London bridges.

Darren Lovegrove, marketing manager at Clarke & Son Solicitors, said: “Our team are passionate supporters of Ark Cancer Centre Charity, and we are delighted to have chalked up another fundraising feat in support of this good cause.

“It was a lovely day on Saturday, and we all enjoyed a very scenic walk. We started at the Tower of London and made our way down the Thames, crossing every bridge as we went. The last one was Wandsworth which took us to a total of 14 bridges, with each walker averaging 30,000 steps.”

There’s no rest for Darren as he and other members of the Clarke & Son fundraising squad will be taking part in next Sunday’s Basingstoke Half Marathon to raise further funds for Ark’s £5million appeal which will help fund a new NHS cancer treatment centre at Basingstoke hospital.

Mark Jones, director of fundraising and communications for Ark Cancer Centre Charity, said: “The Clarke & Son team have really gone the extra mile, and then some, to support Ark – their commitment and fundraising has been absolutely awesome.

“Thank you to the 19 wonderful walkers who took part in the London Bridges event, and good luck to the half-marathon runners.”

Ark Cancer Centre Charity’s £5m appeal will provide a range of support services and complementary therapies, alongside chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, in a calm and uplifting environment.

Largely being funded by Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT), plans are progressing to locate the new cancer centre.
