PINK will be the colour for staff at a Basingstoke supermarket as they raise funds to help battle cancer.

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, throughout October, staff at the Asda store in Brighton Hill will be tickled pink in support of Breast Cancer Care and Breast Cancer Now.

The national supermarket has already raised £60 million through the campaign over the past 22 years to support improved care, support and information for anyone affected by breast cancer to funding life-saving research to help stop women dying of the disease in the future.

A spokesperson from the Basingstoke store said: “This year, colleagues in Basingstoke will be ‘in the pink’ throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month to raise awareness of breast cancer, and there will be fundraising activities taking place instore and in the local community.

“From a pink non-uniform day, to cake sales and a tombola, colleagues will be raising funds for the charities supported through tickled pink to ensure that care and advice is available for anyone facing a breast cancer diagnosis.

“At Asda Basingstoke, we will be proud to be pink – and we hope you can join us.”

The two charities which are set to benefit from the staff fundraising efforts will be able to use the donations in helping provide people diagnosed with breast cancer support in their journey to fight the disease.

Emma Gittoes, Asda’s national charities manager, said: “As this year’s tickled pink campaign launches in Basingstoke, it is an ideal time to say a massive thank-you to all of our colleagues and customers who have whole-heartedly supported the campaign in previous years – and to call upon their support again this October.”

To support the tickled pink campaign, visit the Brighton Way store throughout October where staff will be holding a host of events and shoppers can make a donation.
