STACKS of baled straw were engulfed in flames near Quidhampton overnight.
Firefighters from Andover, Overton, Whitchurch, Rushmoor, Basingstoke and Sutton Scotney were called to the blazing 1,000 tonnes of hay shortly at just before 12.30am.
Wildfire vehicles as well as fire engines attended the incident in Twinley Lane in Whitchurch, with hose reels and jets used to protect the surrounding woodland.
The three stacks of straw were allowed to burn out.
Police and the fire service's investigation team have been informed.
One crew and wildfire team remained at the site on Monday afternoon.
