STAR bakers are being sought to put their best creations forward in aid of the Poppy Appeal.

Old Basing Royal British Legion, in Crown Lane, is hosting the Old Basing Bake Off on October 28 from 1pm with all welcome to enter, for free, either the adult or under 16s competition.

Entrants must put forward in a minimum of two categories from nine options: one Shortbread round marked in eight slices, six flavoured or fruited scones, six cookies, six savoury tarts, one filled Victoria Sponge, 12 bread rolls, six decorated cup or fairy cakes, one large traybake cake cut into 18 pieces, or a Poppy themed item.

Under 16s can enter one or more of the categories.

Experts will judge all entries though for the Poppy-themed item, the public will decide half of the score with judges looking after the other half.

All entries will be sold afterwards to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.

Entry forms are available from the club or by email to oldbasing.web@rbl.community.
