PRIMARY school students and staff are celebrating work being done to beat bullying.
North Waltham Primary School has been awarded a BIG Award 2018-19 for Excellence in Challenging Bullying.
BIG, the Bullying Intervention Group, is a national award scheme for outstanding anti-bullying practice in organisations.
Members work to meet externally agreed criteria and being given the award shows that our school takes bullying seriously enough to work towards accepted good practice.
Val McFarlane, Bullying Intervention Group director, said: "North Waltham Primary School takes pride in the caring and inclusive ethos they have created.
"They have an anti-bullying focus group, with pupil involvement, who develop their anti-bullying strategies including an effective peer support programme, staff training, monitoring and recording of incidents, awareness raising and a robust, up to date anti-bullying policy.
"We were particularly impressed with their "bucket" idea, which is a great analogy to use with young people to encourage kind words and deeds.
"We are delighted to award North Waltham Primary with the BIG Award for Excellence in Challenging Bullying."
