IMPROVEMENTS have been made to a Tadley primary school thanks to a community scheme.

Emcor UK, a facility management company based in AWE Aldermaston, rallied around to held deliver a range of much-needed improvements at Burnham Copse Primary School over the school summer holidays.

The firm helped with the redecorating of internal corridors, making repairs to play equipment and removing condemned pieces of kit as well as digging out an existing base of wood chippings.

Employees from Emcor UK, which helps maintain high-performing sustainable workplaces, carried out the work during the six-week summer holiday so that the children were able to come back to these improvements in the new school year.

Headteacher at the Newchurch Road school, Ali Armstrong, said: “We are so proud of our school.

“Being able to have much-needed work done over the summer holidays has been fantastic.

“Entirely due to the generosity of Emcor, we came back to freshly painted walls, repaired play equipment and a long list of smaller repair and improvement jobs.

“These have all made a huge difference to the learning environment for all our children.

“The work is all of such a high standard and we could simply not have afforded to have everything done as our budget is really tight.

“We would like to thank all those involved in making this possible.”

The work was made possible after Emcor UK account director, Mark Parry, challenged the firm to build stronger relationships in the community.

As the primary school did not have the funds to carry out the work, Emcor UK stepped in to help out.

The play areas were completed at a later date with the final pieces of play equipment installed around two weeks ago.

Support for the project was provided by John Stacey & Sons, as it allowed Emcor to tip one tonne of waste, and by First Safety Construction Ltd, which supplied a mini excavator to dig up the base of the play area.

School staff said as soon as pupils saw the transformed school they immediately wanted to play on the new equipment.
