RUNNING enthusiasts took on the Stockbridge 10K in the sunshine this month.

Around 120 entrants turned out on September 9 to tackle the route starting around the town, with more than £2,000 raised for charitable causes.

The money will be split between Friends of St Peter's Church, Friends of Stockbridge School, Mayflies Youth Group and Stockbridge Scouts.

Organiser Liz Howard said: "The organisers cannot thank the local community enough for their support, and enthusiasm for this event.

"Special thanks go to Miracca and Browne Fine Jewellers and Thyme and Tides which are both located in Stockbridge High Street; Alexandra Sports in Olivers Battery Winchester and Charters Estate Agents for their sponsorship of the event.

"Also to Norton Park Hotel and The Bush Inn, Ovington for supplying further prizes."

The overall winner of the course was Hugh Mackenzie at 35 minutes and 18 seconds, followed by the first female winner Julie Humphries at 41 minutes and two seconds.

The 2K fun run was also "hotly contested" with 70 entrants, with overall winner Oliver Holdich taking first place in nine minutes and 28 seconds.

Isabella Geary, the fastest girl, came in 16 seconds behind.
