HARTLEY Wintney was a hive of activity over the weekend.
Saturday saw both the Hartley Wintney Pram Race and the fire station open day take place.
This year’s Pram Race, on the Cricket Green, was in aid of Naomi House and Jacksplace, and featured both adults and children taking part in races across different categories.
The seven categories had entrants with a variety of inspirations for their designs go up against each other to see who could be fastest.
There was a charity fancy dress race, which had people don a myriad of costumes to get round the course, while elsewhere toddlers took on a course pushing teddies around in the fastest time, and grown-ups had a go too in the parents pushchair race.
There was also the popular Hartley Wintney Soapbox challenge, where contestant’s free-wheeling homemade karts had to hurtle down a course in the quickest time possible.
The other categories were the scooter sprint, the professionals, and the Whizz Kids scooter race.
Also taking place at the same time was the Hartley Wintney fire station open day.
There was fun for all the family as there were a variety of activities available at the village’s fire station, including a cake stall and a grand raffle, which included overnight stays in hotels around the area.
A visit from fire service’s dogs was also on the cards, as well as dispensing valuable fire safety information, the opportunity to dunk a firefighter in a tank and use one of the fire hoses.
