WITNESSES are being asked to come forward following a fatal crash in Oakridge.

Police received reports of a collision between a Mini Cooper and a 74-year-old man in Normanton Road at some point between 9.35am and 9.50am yesterday morning (September 18).

The man was taken to Southampton General hospital with serious injuries, where he died yesterday.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

Officers are now urging witnesses to come forward with any information regarding the circumstances of the incident.

Senior Investigating Officer PC Jonathan Richards, from the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This collision took place in a residential area, so we are asking anyone who lives in this area who witnessed the incident to make contact.

“The street also lies on a bus route. We would like to hear from any commuters who were using this route at the time and who may have information to assist our enquiries.”
