TWO former mayors of Basingstoke and Deane made their last contribution to a local branch of a charity.

On September 3, former mayors Councillors Paul and Jane Frankum made a donation of £1,000 to Basingstoke Parkinson’s from the Mayor’s Community Chest.

The donation came off the back of immediate past mayor Paul Frankum’s term as mayor. In the two years that the pair were mayor and mayoress, they raised over £40,000 in total, and gave grants from the Community Chest to 52 local charities.

Cllr Jane Frankum was the mayor in 2016/17 and Cllr Paul Frankum took the reins for 2017/18.

The Mayor’s Community Chest is a part of the Mayor’s Charity appeal, which selects several local schemes, charities and projects to donate grants to throughout their year in office.
