FOLLOWING a summer of behind-the-scenes work, The Costello School has officially paired up with the Bohunt Education Trust (BET).

As previously reported in The Gazette, the trust and the Crossborough Hill school had a ‘loose relationship’ to help bring a new headteacher to the school.

Following the appointment of Randall Jull in June this year, the school will now have the full backing of the approach to education provided by BET.

Mr Jull said: “We are committed to ensuring that every one of our students at The Costello School has the opportunity to lead their very best life, to reach academic excellence, and to experience activities that will shape them as young people, setting them on their path to adulthood.

“The educational philosophy championed by Bohunt Education Trust is completely aligned with Costello’s, and we look forward to sharing resources, opportunities, and best practice expertise.

“By joining BET, Costello will provide an even greater range of first class opportunities for our great students, while retaining the special identity of our wonderful school.”

The trust said The Costello School will retain its identity and will continue to be led by Mr Jull, but benefitting from the full support of the trust including accessing its range of resource.

Teachers and leaders at the school will have the opportunity to share best practice with others across the trust, and students will also benefit from further enrichment and outdoor education opportunities, BET added.

The trust said there are no plans to change the length of the school day, the logo or the uniform and will continue to work with the board of governors

Hilary Todd, chair of governors at The Costello School, said: “The governors have been working towards this decision for some time and are therefore delighted to now be part of the BET family.”
