AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a man was assaulted in Eastrop last weekend.

A 28-year-old man was walking through Eastrop Park on Sunday, 9 September when he was approached by a group of four men at some point between 6pm-6:30pm.

The group asked him for a cigarette lighter before pushing him to the ground and assaulting him. As a result of the attack, the victim sustained a cut to the face, for which he received treatment at Basingstoke hospital.

One of the men was described as: white, between 20-25 years old, being around 5ft 7ins tall, of medium build, and having short, blonde hair.

Another was described as: black, between 20-25 years old, around 5ft 4ins tall, of medium build, and having short, black hair.

A third man was described as: black, between 20-25 years old, being around 5ft 7ins tall, of muscular build, and having black hair in a messy Afro style.

With the fourth man being described as: black, around 19-20 years old, around 6ft tall, of skinny build, and having shirt, black hair.

Detective Constable Christopher Phillips, from Hampshire Constabulary, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

“The park would have been busy at the time.

“Were you there? Did you see a group of men hanging around the park near the Eastrop Road entrance? If so, we would like to hear from you.”
