A DRIVER has been spared a ban after being caught using his mobile phone at the wheel.
Edward Wall, 27, of Basingstoke Road, Micheldever, was spotted in a Ford Transit on Euskirchen Way, near the Leisure Park, on October 12, 2017.
Wall denied the offence but was convicted after a trial.
Magistrates could have banned him from driving under the totting up procedure but decided against after hearing that he would lose his job and is carer for his unwell father and child.
Wall was fined £175 with a £30 victim surcharge and £250 costs. Six penalty points were added to his licence.
