CARFEST returned to Laverstoke Park Farm for another sell-out year over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Jam-packed with bands and musicians, family fun and a Guinness World Record attempt, there was plenty for an estimated 40,000 revellers to enjoy.

The festival now in its seventh year, raises funds for BBC Children in Need which has now amounted to £10.5 million between the Laverstoke Park Farm event, and CarFest North hosted in Cheshire.

Organisers, including DJ Chris Evans, hoped to raise more than £3.25 million for 2018.

Despite the rain pouring for most of the weekend, it did not dampen the spirits of festival goers, who have praised the event for its atmosphere and friendly attitude.

Among the performers were Status Quo, Paloma Faith, Jools Holland as well as Andover band Echotape which featured in the line up.

Children in Need’s mascot Pudsey the bear also made an appearance, hosting the fancy dress family fun run, and stunt driver Alistair Moffat attempted to break a world record.

The Guinness World Records Tweeted on the efforts: “Today at CarFest, stunt driver Alistair Moffat (UK) attempted to break his own record for tightest 360 degree drift into parallel park.

“The gap to beat was 100cm (39 in)...Unfortunately, no new record today - a thrilling spectacle nonetheless!”

Car enthusiasts were also in for a treat with a vast display of motors from a Porsche Tractor and Chevy Pick Up to Formula racers and Mercedes McLaren SLR.

A fireworks finale topped off the three-day event before it will be back for 2019.
