AN AFTER-school club has been given the highest rating achievable from Ofsted.

SCL Care Club, which runs at Mayhill Junior School, in The Bury, Odiham, was given an ‘outstanding’ rating after an inspection on July 11.

The club offers children a place to go after school, offering three hours of supervision to aid working parents.

SCL runs the club, which provides a selection of different sporting activities and multi-activity programmes, and holds 20 before and after-school clubs across a number of areas.

Hannah Cook, SCL’s general manager for primary education, said: “It has been great to be recognised for the hard work that our Mayhill staff and the wider SCL team continue to put in.”

The staff were praised in the inspection report.

Part of the report read: “Managers inspire and lead their team effectively.

“They have high expectations in their pursuit for excellence and successfully promote a culture of self-reflection and teamwork that benefits the families who attend.

“Well-qualified and caring staff work exceptionally well as a team. They use their excellent knowledge of children’s interests to plan a wide range of motivating activities that capture children’s attention after a busy day at school.

“Staff are exceptional role models for children and this is evident in the children’s excellent behaviour.”

Marcus Headington, general manager for primary, said: “SCL are delighted with this outcome, the team have worked extremely hard to achieve the “outstanding” grade.

“We place the children at the heart of everything we do and ensure that each and every child has a great experience.

“As we expand this service to our customers we hope to continue to be rewarded for the great job the team do.”

The content of the sessions was noted as well by inspectors, who commented that it complemented the curriculum of the school.

Part of the report added: “Staff complement children’s learning in school very successfully. They gain information from teachers about children’s learning and development in the classroom and plan activities which enhance and complement these.

“Parents rate the club very highly.

“Self-evaluation is robust and improvement plans are sharply focused on the needs of the children who attend the club.

“Children’s and parents’ views are paramount in everything the club does.

“Their suggestions are consistently valued and acted upon.”
